Carmiel Banasky's recognized career spans television, film, novels, and audio, and she is a leader in climate storytelling. Since staffing on Amazon’s UNDONE, she created the sci-fi podcast, THE LAST CITY, which reached #1 in fiction. She co-wrote a short film starring Margaret Cho that premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, now in development as a feature. She’s the author of the critically-acclaimed novel The Suicide of Claire Bishop, which she started during her MFA at Hunter College. She was selected as a 2026 Sundance Episodic Fellow. A journey to the Arctic aboard a 19th-century replica sailing vessel changed the trajectory of her life. Watching her first glacier calve, she knew her two lives – writer and climate advocate – could no longer be separate. As Head Writer and VP of Editorial for the nonprofit Good Energy, she led development of the Playbook for Screenwriting in the Age of Climate Change, and continues to help screenwriters integrate climate into any genre with joy and humor.
